Central Jersey Medical Center in Partnership with Aetna Hosts Pop-Up Produce Giveaways to Promote Healthy Living

This is a subtitle for your new post

As part of their commitment to nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, the CJMC in partnership with Aetna, regularly hosts a pop-up produce giveaway for members of the community.  The produce giveaway features a generous supply of New Jersey-grown fresh fruits and vegetables that encourages a healthy diet, particularly for children who are in their formative years.

CJMC’s pediatrics department encourages parents to prepare and serve well-balanced meals and fresh snacks that will give children a strong basis for a lifetime of healthy eating.

Recent pop-up produce events held at CJMC’s Carteret site in July and in Perth Amboy in August were a huge success and well received by the community, which exhibits a strong interest in nutritional health for families.

To further emphasize the importance of early nutritionally healthy dietary habits, CJMC’s pediatrics department works closely with parents and family members to provide information on the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

CJMC explains that the benefits of a healthy diet starting in childhood are:

• Providing the energy children need to learn, play, and grow.

• Supporting healthy brain development, memory, and concentration.

• Strengthening their immune system and helping fight illnesses.

• Building strong bones and teeth through nutrients like calcium and vitamin D.

• Promoting healthy growth by providing essential vitamins and minerals.

• Maintaining a healthy weight.

• Reducing the risk of childhood obesity.

• Promoting healthy eating habits that can last into adulthood.

• Improving overall emotional well-being.

• Supporting healthy digestion with a balanced intake of fiber and fluids.

• Reducing the risk of long-term health conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease later in life.

• Teaching children the importance of making nutritious food choices for lifelong health.

"Good health begins with access to nutritious food," CJMC states. "Events like this are an important way to support our neighbors while strengthening the health of our community."

Recent pop-up produce events held at CJMC’s Carteret site in July and in Perth Amboy in August were highly successful and well received by the community, which exhibits a strong interest in nutritional health for families.

In addition to providing fresh produce, these events serve as an opportunity for community members to learn more about healthy eating habits at any age, along with Central Jersey Medical Center’s adult medicine, pediatrics, specialty, dental, and referral services.

Start the school year with a commitment to your child’s healthy lifestyle by scheduling their checkup with CJMC pediatrics.
